Nate's Big Day

Since Nate is a big eighth grader this year, he got to attend the traditional eighth grade dinner dance. The theme this year was New York, New York! The parents spend the weekend before the Monday night dance decorating for the evening. I got to help in the Hard Rock Cafe Room. It's a lot of work, but always turns out so amazing. Here are a few shots of the decorations and of Nathan looking very dapper in his new suit and the fedora that Grandma Foulk gave him for his birthday!!!

Don't they clean up nice!!!

From Rain Delay to Bongo Cam!!!

Evan... holding the cool neck ties we wore to keep cool

It was a hot, muggy evening as we arrived at the ball park to see the Phillies and the Cubs play. As the game progressed, a huge black mass in the sky moved toward us from the north. Things looked pretty ominous but still.

Then the swirling winds hit and they called in the players and put out the tarp. Even though it wasn't raining yet, we decided to get under cover. The wind was crazy.

Steve decided to get us some ice cream cones while we waited. Just as they were making his cones at the stand that was not under cover, the sky broke loose. They quickly finished his cones and then closed the window. He was pretty drenched....but hey, he got the ice cream!!

There was a lot of thunder, pouring rain, and lots of wind.

After about an hour we walked back to our seats, dried them off, and enjoyed a much cooler night at the ball game.
During the 8th inning, we decided to go down in the "good seats" since the rain and the fact that we were leading the game had sent quite a few people home. We got to sit about 10 rows back from the dugout and it was so fun to see the players up close.

Charlie even challenged a call that had been ruled a ground rule double. After the replay...the Phillies got a home run out of it. Way to go, Charlie!!

All of a sudden we looked up at the big screen and saw they were doing the Bongo-cam. Megan and I went crazy pretending to play the bongos. We have always loved the Bongo-cam but since we sit so high, we never get on the cam. But this night we did!!!

Very fun. Meg even got a call from her friend telling us that they just saw Evan on TV.

Gotta love those expensive seats!!!

All in all, it was a fun night even though the Phils ended up losing the game.

A Memorable Memorial Day and Birthday

The end of May brought a wonderful visit from Janelle, Alan, and Scott. Janelle and Alan arrived in Newark on Tuesday evening. They had gotten a super airline fare so they came down early and then Scott drove down on Friday for the weekend. Since we were going to Newark to pick them up, Steve and I decided to go up to a session at the Manhattan Temple and get a nice dinner in Hoboken before picking them up.
We had such a wonderful time with them here. Alan has gotten so much bigger even from when we went up to Boston in February. He is speaking so well, now. He would greet everyone with ....Hi, Gin...or Hi, Meg....etc. If he wanted something he would look at his mommy with those beautiful eyes and say, "Pees, mom". So cute!!
Emily celebrated her 20th birthday while they were visiting. She wanted to make her own cake and did an amazing job!!. We also surprised her with a birthday greeting at the Phillies game. She, Jimmie, Janelle, and Steve went.
Here are some (ok, a lot) of the photos we snapped during the time they were here.

One of those wonderfully enthusiastic smiles!!
See if you can spot a theme in the next few photos....

Here it comes!
