Leon and Caroline Foulk Family Reunion in Tennessee - August 2013

We were able to take part in the first ever Foulk Family Reunion this year.  Grandma had wanted to get us all together so we found a resort in Tennessee that we could use through our timeshare and made our plans for August 11-18.  Almost everyone was able to come.  Janelle's family could not come because after the plans were made she found out that she would actually be expecting a baby that very week!  Also, Stephanie's husband, Marc, was working in Alaska and was unable to be there.  We missed having them there, but those of us that were able to come had such a wonderful time.

Those who live far away or were only able to be there for a few days flew into the area, but Tracey's family, Grandma, and our family drove down.  We did it in two days so it wasn't that bad.

We stayed in Woodstock, VA on the way down.  Sunday morning after church we started out again but not until we went down and took these photos near the river.  It was a beautiful spot!

Steve and the kids on the elevated foot bridge

We had planned some organized activities, some shows to see, and family time.  The resort also had some very fun water parks and other activities which we all really enjoyed.  Some of the photos are a little out of order because they came from various sources, but hopefully they will paint a picture of the fun that we had.

A very happy Jimmie

One day we headed in to Gatlinburg.  Steve scored some delicious beef jerky here
and was pretty excited about it...:)

Em sure had fun....

especially in the candy store.....

...and with this big dinosaur!!

After Gatlinburg we headed into Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  It was gorgeous!!  We had heard about a great little hike to Abram's Falls in a place called  Cade's Cove.  It was a long trip to get there, but so, so beautiful!!

Some pretty butterflies

Such a pretty little stream through the place where we ate lunch

Em and Jimmie...the day was getting a little long at this point.  They actually headed back after lunch so that he (and his mom and dad) could get some rest.  We missed them on the hike, but it was for the best at the hike turned out to be more rigorous than we had thought.

Not exactly sure what she has in her hand...but she seems quite pleased  :)

Lunch time

A family portrait - Em, Jimmie and Jim

Kaci, Nikki, and Evan playing in the stream

A happy Steve

Some wildlife along the way.  We actually saw a bear cub in a tree, too, but
the photos didn't come out well.

Evan and Kaci on the hike

The scenery was AMAZING!!

But, the path was a little more rugged than we had expected.

The halfway mark to the falls

Evan was so happy to reach halfway

Nikki getting a little snack....They found this creature along the way.
Not even sure what it is.

Tracey and her girls, Nikki and Kaci

"Oh, how lovely was the morning" (or afternoon)

We made it!!

And this was our reward.  So fun!!

Our whole crew - at least everyone who was there for the hike

Some close-ups

Nice!!

The resort had some fun activities for the kids and adults right on site.
Here are some photos from around the homestead.

The laser tag area was a favorite.  This monitor shows Evan and one of the girls
making their attempt to get through the maze.  They loved it!!

Nikki at the bowling center

Evan on the rock wall

Evan and Kaci making the ascent

Evan on the ropes course

He really loved this!!

One day we headed to this fun place.  Steve and I had driven by it and thought it looked fun.
  It was!!

Steve, Megan, and Stephanie

Meg and her Mom

Baby Jimmie was a trooper

Smile!!!  (sorry, kind of focused on this ice cream cone...oh brother!)
Grandma and Steph look great, though.

A few selfies with Megan and Nathan

He was so surprised ?  Funny kids!!

Geoffrey, Megan, Nathan, Evan and Stephanie

After church on the last Sunday there, we drove up through a loop called Roaring Fork.  It had absolutely amazing scenery!!  We took these shots as we drove through.  So pretty!!

Jill and Steve by the beautiful stream

Nathan, Evan, Steve, Megan, Stephanie, and Geoffrey by one of the many waterfalls

The reunion was a wonderful time to spend time all together.
Thanks so much, Grandma Foulk, for making it all possible. We loved it!!

Baby Jimmie Photo Shoots

Here are just a few photos of little Jimmie that show him growing right before your eyes.  Love his expressions....even when pretty tiny!!  Love this little guy!!  Thanks for letting me steal them, Em.

Looking at his mobile

So tiny

Hi, Mom

Pretty happy!!

Hey, what's that over there?

This one totally cracked me up.  Turns out that Nala was doing something funny right then.

Uhh,  are we about done, Mom?

So, so cute!!

Some Fun Summer Times and Places

It was so fun to have Geoffrey here with us for a week before starting his training in Virginia.

Steve in his new float

Evan doing the length of the pool underwater....Nice!!

We got our Meg home for about seven weeks in between semesters.  Meg has decided that she will put in her mission papers so she has been busy getting them ready.  She was happy to take a few minutes for some Rita's, though.

Oh....and some Wawa, too.

We visited Philadelphia last Saturday and were able to check first hand on the progress being made on the temple.

Future tour guides?

A construction view with the little Albanian church in the background

And another with the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul across the expressway

We took everyone to see Wicked in Philly.  Steve, Megan, and I have already seen the show so we bought really cheap seats so the boys could see it.  But we learned that there are actually seats where you can't really see the stage.  Thankfully a nice usher found some different ones for us.  It was a great show

This was the view from our first seats.....beautiful, but not Wicked.  :)

Visits From Our Fun Family

Geoffrey came out to spend a week with us before starting his new job in the DC area.
Janelle and her boys also came down so that we could all spend some time together.  They took a bus down to Newark where I picked them up and brought them the rest of the way.  Scott came down on the weekend, too.  The original plan was for Janelle and the boys to go back with him, but since they had problems with their air conditioning at home and she's 8+ months pregnant, she decided to stay here a little longer.  We, of course, had no complaints.  :)

The boys got to spend time each day in the pool.  They loved it!!!

Kaci and Nikki came to swim one day, too.

Evan the fish

Alan practicing his swimming

James liked hopping down the stairs and then back up.
Then he would plop down on the top step and say, "I did it!"

Jamesy with his buddy, "Jimmy"

When the rest of the family went to the Phillies game (it got rained out and they actually ended up going the next night), we got to go to McDonalds!!!  It was a happy meal date with my boys!

Alan being creative

Yummm, this is de-yicious, Grandma!!

Now those are happy faces!!

We had the ward picnic while everyone was here.  Here are some shots from our hot but fun day.
